Dr. Laura Bahns was raised in the Quad-Cities. She graduated from Pleasant Valley High School and St. Ambrose University with a biology degree.
Dr. Bahns then graduated from Iowa State University in 2003 where she received both the Gentle Doctor Award and the Small Animal Medicine Award upon graduation.
She has previously worked at Kimberly Crest during high school and undergrad. She practiced in Muscatine and Walcott before returning to Kimberly Crest as an associate veterinarian in October 2010
Dr. Bahns is a member of IVMA, AVMA, QCVMA, AAHA, AAFP and AAHABV. Her interests include behavior, nutrition, dentistry, oncology, feline medicine, and helping to strengthen the human-animal bond. Dr. Bahns states, “To me veterinary medicine isn’t just a career but a way of life. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.”
She lives in Blue Grass with her husband, Scot, and two children. She also has a mixed breed dog, Penny, and two cats, Edward and Optimus Prime. In her personal time, she enjoys volunteering at her children’s school, cheering them on at their sporting activities, gardening/landscaping, reading and spending quality time with her family.
